Who We Are:

In 2002, I started my program  Kids Helping Kids with asthma, because of our asthma conditions.  John-Henry's was severe while mine was exercised induced.  We needed to share with other kids what it was like to have asthma and learn how to live with it!  We started teaching kids at community fairs and clinics and continued learning and going to Washington DC to help legislature with a bill that would allow kids to carry lifesaving medications with them to school.  The bill that we spoke about was HR2023 and on May 5th, 2004, my brother and I became part of the Congressional record and we were even on C-Span too!   For over 3 years, my brothers and I take our team all over teaching the community about asthma and helping kids to stay away from smoking.  Our team has grown to well over 30 active members that take our information across the country and share it to their community members too.

In 2003, through my research, I learned that part of my problems with exercised induced asthma was related to my weight.  I learned that if I could loose weight, not only would I feel better (be able to breathe!) but I was also feeling better all the way around!  So I continued to read all about nutrition, health, fitness, etc. and I started to change myself!  I learned that people do look at you differently if you are larger!  First appearances are the most lasting!  Not that I wasn't a good person, I was and still am!  But if I wanted to help others, I had to help myself first!  Today, I have lost over 70 pounds, I attend the gym 2-4 times a week (schedule allowing), I am active in helping other youths with my clinics and community events with my new project called HOPE (Helping Obese People through Education)..  I need to help other kids like me to re-learn "how to" eat better, live a active life and help someone else too.
